There seems to be alot of StatePants at the games these days, but not alot of quality from the people wearing them!!
F@#! me, ive seen a few PK players sporting some even!!
When a team scores -50odd in a vets game and other grades are getting flogged by around 100runs a game, shouldnt the officialdom have some sort of say in the wearing of the StatePants?
Its a form of bringing the game/state or state of the game into disrepute, isnt it?
On the eve of another batch of juniors getting handed their set of Pants, is it too hard to ask, that when wearing them, do yourself and the State a favour and play accordingly, play like that you earned them, or atleast make it look like you did, even if you were one of the only 10 who showed up at trials??!!
It carries over to midweek cricket too. If you want to have a slogfest, wear your Kmart trackies, cause when you get bowled 5 times in a row, and you still think youve done well, coz you hit that last ball for 7, people see the Pants and think, not that you are just messing around, they think the state team is crap if you play in it!!
They then dont think, i might give it ago next year, if hes in it, they think, im not gonna waste 2K to play with a dhead like you!!
And please, if you earned them back in 01 and you play C grade, it just proves what a wasted talent you may have been, so hang them up, and atleast you can tell your kids/mates how great a player you were, instead of them seeing that your not for themselves!!
In short, wear the pants and play like a State Rep, dont wear them to look like a State Rep!!
The abundance of Pants out there has caused them to lose their aura, and now the standard of the game is losing its!!
Well thats my 2cents
