SUPER LEAGUE MEETING - 8TH FEBRUARY 2008
Hi all
The ( Super ) SUPER LEAGUE Meeting for the 2008 competition will be held on the 8th of Feb. commencing at 10.00 am SHARP at the Dianella Hotel Alexander Dr. Dianella.

IT's VERY VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE ALL ATTEND THIS MEETING as we hope to get this season under way by the 6th of April and some hard and fast rules will be set at this meeting that will effect us all and decisions made may or may not have a bearing as to wether or not some of us compete at all this year. So please be prepared to make firm commitments for the season.
There as you would be aware many changes with centres this year so it is important that we get it right on the day if the comp is to run successfully, so lets all wear our thinking caps and make it right for once the first time.

Regards
Rod

W.A. OPEN MEN ( THE WESTERN WOLVES ) EXCEL AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
After finishing a close second in 2006 ( 3 runs ), the team made ammends by winning 2007 titles by 8 runs defeating a very strong ACT team, in what was a great match won only in the last over.
The Nationals were this year held in Toowoomba, and after overcoming the "south pole-like" conditions, we warmed to our task and just improved as the week progressed.
Some highlights that will, I am sure, become treasured memories for the team, were to see each player perform as a close knit unit, and win after 15 years out in the cold.

The Team, Nick deGrys (Capt.) "Niko", Ty Hopes "Hopesy", Jarrad Daniells "Bear", Lee Irwin "Bindi", Peter Lewis "Lewi", Andy Walton "Walts", Vin Sandhu "Sanshu", Jason Thomas "J T", Rob Slowey "Slowey", Brett Wishart "Wishy", Justin Coetzee "Coota", Rod Chilcott (Coach) "Rocket", Rod Jenkins (Assistant) "CC".

We had three players make the Australian team, Nick deGRYS, Ty Hopes, and Lee Irwin. These players will travel to Bristol in England to compete in the World Cup in December. The cost of this trip to the players is quite high so if you or your club can help with sponsorships or fund raising to assist them in achieving their goal, please contact your club for more information.
With three in the Aussie Side we also had the Alan Wilson Medal Winner in Ty Hopes, this is achieved by accumulation of votes from the last Nationals and International tour, and is awarded to the outstanding player for 2006-2007. Congratulations to Ty.
Lee Irwin was named Player of the Final, and well deserved. An inspiring exhibition of cricket from a young player, Congratulations Lee.
Justin Coetzee was named Player of the Series, and was a runaway winner. Unfortunately, Justin was unavailable to tour this year, (I hope we can get him there next year.) Congratulation on a great week Justin.

We will not forget the great batting exhibitions by Wishy and the Bear, they were truly special, and the bowling power from Niko,Coota,Slowey and Hopsey, awesome at times. The way Bindi answered every challenge, the wise old head of Walts proved experience does show through, and the keeping of Sanshu and the batting and the bowling, ok, ok, the improvement in JT now a State Player of quality and the determination of Lewi, never say die Lewi and CC always there, just great, like an old wise owl.
I have never in 17 years enjoyed being involved with a State Team as I did this one, last year was special but nothing will ever top this.
A great team to coach, and thank you for the special memories.

Rod Chilcott reports ... (Posted 15/06/07)
Once again our Junior teams excel at National Titles.
We were able to send three strong sides to Liverpool NSW this year to compete at the National Titles, with all teams being very competitive and the 14's and 18's just falling short and losing the prelim finals by the small margins, this was a fantastic achievement for all concerned. Players Coaches Managers and all the support staff are to be commended on there effort and also a big thank you must also go to the parents that helped get all the teams away a special thanks to Sharee Keys (Joshes mum ) washing the boys playing gear and helping generally on tour. I am sure with a little more effort next year we could bring back three shields as all our teams are now experienced and much stronger. Chris Bryce 16's Christian Smith, Josh Acell, Jack Rankin 14's were all selected in the Allstars Australian Teams Jarrad Leach was selected in the 19's Australian team to tour to England for the World Cup in September this year congratulations to all.
Now for the open titles in Toowoomba Qld.
We are sending open men and for the first time we will be sending 21's unfortunately there will not be a ladies team this year due to lack of support. The open men who were runners up last year losing the Grand Final by a mere 3 runs have potentially a stronger team this year and are hoping to go one better and win the flag. The 21's are an unknown at this level but watching them train and looking at the talent they have should be more than competitive.
Then its off to Strathpine with the Masters in July.
This year we will send 30's Ladies 35's and 40's men's team to compete All three teams look very very strong and we are hoping for some big wins from this group all teams are training very hard and will be ready for all comers by July.Good luck to all Open and Masters teams for the coming events and once again congratulations to all the junior sides WELL DONE.
